House of the Dragon slot at a glance

Blueprint Gaming released the House of the Dragon slot in 2026, based on the television drama about the Targaryen family. It is one of the studio’s TV and film slot machines, and like most recent Blueprint games it mixes ordinary line wins with a collect mechanic. The four high-pay symbols are characters from the series, the low-pay symbols are card ranks, and a Dragon Eye wild appears on the middle three reels.

Three numbers frame the game. The RTP is lower than many online slots, at 94% in the standard version. The paylines are fixed at 20, so you always play all of them. And the top prize of 3,000 times the stake is modest by modern standards, which tells you the game’s results are less extreme at the top end than games with five-figure multipliers.

Reels and paylines: how the House of the Dragon slot machine is laid out

The grid is five reels wide and four rows tall, giving 20 visible positions. Each of the 20 fixed lines runs from the leftmost reel to the right, and a win needs three or more matching symbols on a line starting from reel 1. Only the highest win on each line is paid.

Because the lines are fixed, your total stake is spread across all 20. A £1 total stake is effectively 5p per line, but the paytable on modern games like this shows prizes in relation to the total stake, so you do not need to do that division yourself. Wild symbols substitute for the regular paying symbols, helping complete lines, but they appear only on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Premium symbols and some special symbols can land stacked, covering a whole reel. On a four-row game, a full stack on reel 1 puts the same symbol on four different lines at once, which is why stacked premiums produce the biggest line wins. Our page on stacked symbols explains the effect in detail.

Collect and Cash Prize symbols: the base-game engine

Cash Prize symbols can land anywhere and show a value as a multiple of the stake. Collect symbols can land only on reels 1 and 5. When a Collect lands together with at least one Cash Prize, it expands to fill its reel and gathers every Cash Prize value in view. If Collect symbols land on both outer reels, each one collects the full set, so the prizes are paid twice.

What landsValuePaid
Two Cash Prizes showing 1× and 3×4× stake in totalNothing yet
Collect on reel 1 onlyGathers 4×£1.60
Collect on reels 1 and 5Each gathers 4×£3.20

This is the same principle as the Cash Collect feature on many Blueprint games: values on screen mean nothing until a collector arrives. Cash Prizes without a Collect are simply cleared at the end of the spin, however many there are.

Dragon’s Wheel and the progress bar

One type of Cash Prize symbol is a Dragon’s Wheel. If it lands with a Collect, a small extra reel starts beside the grid. That mini reel awards Cash Prize values, or dragon emblems that move a progress bar upwards and give another turn. A blank ends the feature and pays the highlighted prize. Reaching the top of the bar in the base game awards a Super Bonus: a round of Dance of the Dragons free spins with every pot already active.

Feature-within-a-feature designs like this are common on recent Blueprint slots. They add drama to the base game, but the probability of each outcome is fixed by the game’s maths and decided by the RNG. A long climb up the bar does not make the next emblem more likely.

Syrax Strike: four random modifiers

On any spin in the base game or the free spins, a coin can land and wake the dragon Syrax, who applies one of four modifiers. Each is designed to turn the current spin into a win or a feature.

Syrax’s FuryExtra Cash Prize and Collect symbolsA collection on that spin
Wild FireExtra wilds on reels 2–4At least one line win
Syrax’s BreathClears a losing screen and drops new symbolsA line or collection win

Random modifiers are part of the RTP calculation. They make some spins more exciting without changing the long-run cost. See random features for how studios balance these against the base game.

House of the Dragon free spins: Dance of the Dragons and the five pots

Three or more bonus scatters in one base-game spin award 10 Dance of the Dragons free spins with at least one enhancement active. One or two scatters can also trigger the round at random, less often. Above each reel sits a pot, and each pot holds a different enhancement. Here is how a round plays out:

  1. Scatters that land under a pot fill it; each filled pot switches on its enhancement for the round.
  2. The 10 free spins begin with the active enhancements in place.
  3. Collect and Cash Prize symbols keep working as in the base game, with the enhancements changing the values or the symbols that land.
  4. A pot filled during the round adds its enhancement and 5 more spins.
  5. When the spins run out, the total is added to your balance and the base game resumes.

What the enhancements do

  • Dragon’s Chest: a special Cash Prize on each reel that stores other prize values and pays them with a Collect.
  • Dragon’s Fire: removes the regular paying symbols, leaving cash, collect, scatter and blank symbols only.
  • Fire and Blood: applies a random multiplier to the Cash Prizes in view when a Collect triggers.
  • A prize boost: raises the value of visible Cash Prizes when collected.
  • Dragon’s Lock: locks cash, collect and scatter symbols in place and starts a run of respins until no new ones land.

Rounds with several pots active are where the 3,000× maximum becomes possible. The help screen lists the exact multiplier ranges and boost values for your version.

House of the Dragon RTP and the cost of a session

The standard RTP of 94% means the house keeps £6 of every £100 staked, on average, over a very long run. Two lower versions are also supplied. The table shows what 100 spins cost on average in each.

House of the Dragon: average cost of 100 spins by RTP version
StakeTotal stakedAt 94%At 93%At 92%
10p£1060p70p80p
20p£20£1.20£1.40£1.60
£1£100£6£7£8
£2£200£12£14£16
£5£500£30£35£40

A 94% game costs about half as much again as a 96% game for the same stakes: £6 against £4 per £100. That is a meaningful difference if you play a licensed game mainly for its theme. Open the help screen to see which version your casino runs; how to find a slot’s RTP walks through it, and what is a good RTP gives context.

Express Bet: what the extra 20% buys

Some versions include Express Bet, an optional setting that adds 20% to the stake in exchange for a higher chance of triggering the free spins. It is a form of ante bet. At a £1 stake, Express Bet makes each spin cost £1.20, so 100 spins stake £120 instead of £100. At 94% RTP, that raises the long-run average cost of those 100 spins from £6 to £7.20.

In other words, you pay more per spin to see the bonus more often. The help screen states the RTP with the option switched on and off, and whether it is available at your casino. Remember that UK stake limits apply to what you pay per spin.

A 3,000× ceiling is low next to games offering 10,000× or more. In practice that usually goes with a game whose results are less concentrated at the very top, though volatility ratings for this title vary between sources and are not part of our checked data. No published odds exist for reaching the maximum. Our max win entry explains how the cap is applied.

House of the Dragon in the UK: rules that apply

Being a 2026 release, the game was built for the rules that have applied since 31 October 2021: no autoplay, spins lasting 2.5 seconds or more, neither turbo nor slam-stop, no fanfare for returns that don’t beat the stake, and a visible net position. Slots supplied to Great Britain don't offer a bonus buy, so Dance of the Dragons has to be triggered in play. Players aged 25 and over can stake up to £5 per spin and those aged 18–24 up to £2.

The Commission’s stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) sets out how casinos apply those caps, and our UK slot machine rules guide brings the online and land-based limits together.

House of the Dragon myths

A full progress bar is close, so keep going. The bar is part of a single feature, decided as one outcome; it does not carry momentum into later spins. Syrax appears more after losing spins. Modifiers are random and are not triggered to compensate for losses. Express Bet improves your return. It raises your stake and your bonus frequency together; the long-run return is set by the RTP. More pots always pay more. More enhancements raise the potential of a round, but any round can still pay little. The gambler’s fallacy explains why these beliefs are so persuasive.

Similar dragon and collect slots

For another dragon theme with a higher top prize, Dragon’s Fire from Red Tiger pairs a published 95.25% RTP with a 10,000× max win across 40 lines. Floating Dragon is another dragon-themed title we take apart. If the collect mechanic is what appeals, The Goonies Megaways uses a Blueprint collector design on Megaways reels. Frequently asked questions

What is the House of the Dragon slot RTP?

Blueprint’s standard setting for this game is 94%, with 93% and 92% versions also available to casinos. At 94%, the long-run average cost is £6 for every £100 staked, compared with £8 at 92%. That is below the 96% typical of many online slots. Short sessions can differ widely from these averages. Check the version in the game’s help screen before playing. See RTP variants for why the same game can have different settings.

What is the House of the Dragon max win?

House of the Dragon caps wins at 3,000× the stake: £300 from a 10p spin, £3,000 from £1, £6,000 from a £2 spin (the most an 18 to 24-year-old can stake) and £15,000 from £5, the limit for everyone 25 or older. The top results come from Dance of the Dragons rounds with several pots active. No official odds of reaching the maximum are published. Compare it with other games on what slot has the biggest max win.

How do you trigger Dance of the Dragons free spins?

Land three or more bonus scatters in one base-game spin to receive 10 free spins with at least one enhancement active. One or two scatters can occasionally trigger the round at random, and the Bonus Boost modifier can add scatters. Reaching the top of the Dragon’s Wheel bar in the base game gives a Super Bonus with all five pots active. Pots filled during the round add 5 spins each. Read what triggers a bonus round for the general mechanics.

How does the Collect feature work on House of the Dragon?

Collect symbols land only on reels 1 and 5. When one lands with at least one Cash Prize symbol in view, it expands over its reel and gathers every Cash Prize value, which is then paid. If Collect symbols land on both outer reels, each collects the full set, doubling the payout. Cash Prizes with no Collect pay nothing. The Cash Collect feature page compares this design with other collector slots.

What is Express Bet on House of the Dragon?

Express Bet is an optional setting that adds 20% to your stake to increase the chance of triggering free spins. At £1, each spin costs £1.20 instead, so the same number of spins costs more in total. It does not beat the house edge; you are paying more per spin to see the bonus more often. Not every casino offers it. The help screen shows the RTP with the option on. Our ante bet page explains how these side stakes work.

How many paylines does House of the Dragon have?

The game has 20 fixed paylines on a grid of five reels and four rows, and all lines are always active. A win needs three or more matching symbols on a line, starting from reel 1. Only the highest win per line is paid. Fixed lines mean you cannot reduce the number played to lower your stake; you lower the total stake instead. Our explainer on slot paylines shows how lines are drawn across the grid.

Is there a House of the Dragon demo?

Most casinos that stock the game offer a demo, which is free demo play, after age verification, as UK rules have required since May 2019. The demo shows the Collect symbols, the Dragon’s Wheel and the pot enhancements without staking money, and it follows the same maths as the real game. The real-money RTP setting at a given casino still has to be checked separately. Our demo slots vs real money slots comparison sets out what does and does not carry over.

Is the House of the Dragon slot high volatility?

Volatility ratings for this game differ between sources, and none is part of our checked data, so treat any single label with caution. What the published facts do show is a 3,000× maximum, which is low for a modern slot and suggests results are less concentrated at the very top than in games with 10,000× or higher ceilings. The collect mechanic also produces frequent small payouts. See slot machine volatility for how to judge it from the paytable.

Can I buy free spins on House of the Dragon in the UK?

No. British versions of the game leave out the bonus buy, so Dance of the Dragons free spins have to be triggered through normal play. Express Bet, where offered, is different: it raises your stake on each spin rather than buying the feature outright. UK stake limits of £5 for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds still apply. Read bonus buy in the UK for the background.

Is House of the Dragon worth playing?

It suits players who enjoy the series and like collector features, but it is not a cheap game to play by RTP standards. The 94% standard version costs £6 per £100 on average, more than a typical 96% slot, and lower versions cost more again. The 3,000× ceiling is modest. If you play it, choose a stake that fits a set budget and check the version first. Our guide to choosing a slot lists the questions to ask.
