The Money Cart 2 slot is a 2021 Relax Gaming game built entirely around one respin bonus: the base game on its 5 × 4 grid exists to trigger the round, and the round is where collector, persistent and multiplier symbols do the paying. Its top RTP of 98.00% is unusually high, though lower versions exist, and volatility is high.
Money Cart 2 is a 2021 Relax Gaming spin-off built on the respin bonus from Money Train 2.
The base game is a hunt for bonus symbols; published summaries say it pays nothing on its own.
The top RTP is 98.00%, one of the highest published, but lower versions exist.
Volatility is high: most spins return nothing and the whole return arrives in bonus rounds.

What the Money Cart 2 slot is
Money Cart 2 comes from Relax Gaming, the studio behind the Money Train series. Where the Money Train games combine a line-paying base game with a respin bonus, Money Cart takes only the bonus and builds a whole game around it. The result is one of the purest examples of a hold and win slot: you spin to land bonus symbols, and when enough arrive, the respin round begins.
That design makes the maths unusual. Because the base game is only a trigger hunt, all of the game's return has to come from the bonus. With a top RTP of 98.00% and high volatility, that means a long sequence of empty spins punctuated by rounds that can return many times the stake. It is a very different experience from the steady drip of small wins on a classic five-line game, as our slot machine guides show across the range.

How the Money Cart 2 slot machine base game works
Published summaries describe the base reels as carrying only blank positions and bonus symbols, with no ordinary line wins. Each paid spin therefore has two possible outcomes: not enough bonus symbols, and the stake is lost; or enough to start the respin round. The random number generator decides which at the moment you spin.
Choose your stake (capped in the UK at £5 a spin for 25+ and £2 for 18–24).
The RNG decides where every bonus symbol lands on the 5 × 4 grid.
The reels animate for at least 2.5 seconds, the UK minimum.
If three bonus symbols land, the respin bonus starts with those symbols held in place.
If not, the spin ends with no return, and your net position updates on screen.
This is the extreme end of how a slot can distribute its RTP. On most games a share of the return comes from small line wins that slow down your losses. Here there is no such cushion, so a budget runs down at exactly the stake rate until a bonus lands. Our hit frequency explainer explains why a low hit rate makes sessions feel so different, even at a high RTP.
UK rules stop games celebrating a return that is equal to or less than your stake. On Money Cart 2's base game, a non-triggering spin is simply a loss.
Money Cart 2 bonus: the respin round explained
The bonus is a respin feature. Published summaries describe it starting with three respins. Every time a new symbol lands it sticks in place and the respin count resets to three; when three respins pass with nothing new landing, the round ends and all values on the grid are paid. Filling a reel can open extra space: summaries describe the grid growing as reels fill, up to seven reels, which is an example of expanding reels.
The special symbols
Money Cart 2 respin symbols (as described in published summaries)
Symbol type
What it does
Money symbol
Shows a cash value as a multiple of the stake; sticks when it lands
Collector
Adds up the values of the other symbols on the grid and takes the total as its own value
Payer
Adds value to the other symbols on the grid
Sniper
Boosts the values of randomly chosen symbols on the grid
Necromancer
Brings back symbols whose features have already been used, so they act again
Persistent versions
Persistent payer, sniper or collector act on every remaining respin, not just once
The persistent symbols are what make big rounds possible. A one-off collector adds up the grid once; a persistent collector does it every respin, so values compound as the grid fills. The exact list and multiplier ranges in your version are in the game rules. Our cash collect and sticky symbols pages explain the building blocks.
A worked respin round with illustrative values
This example uses round numbers to show how the pieces interact. It is not a typical result, and the values in the real game vary.
On a £1 stake, three money symbols land worth £2, £1 and £3. The round starts with three respins.
First respin: a payer lands and adds £1 to each of the three money symbols, making £3, £2 and £4.
Second respin: nothing lands; two respins remain.
Third respin: a collector lands and takes the grid total of £9 as its value.
Three more blank respins pass and the round ends, paying £3 + £2 + £4 + £9 = £18.
Now imagine the collector had been persistent. On each later respin it would collect the grid again, adding any new values, so the total would climb with every symbol that lands. That is the mechanism behind the very large rounds this game is known for, and the reason the volatility is high: the difference between a round with a persistent collector and one without is enormous.
Money Cart 2 RTP: what 98% means in pounds
The Money Cart 2 RTP is 98.00% at its top setting, which leaves a house margin of 2%. Lower versions exist, and casinos choose which to offer. Over a very large number of spins, £100 staked on the top version has an average cost of £2. That figure is a long-run average across all players. Because the base game returns nothing, individual sessions are especially uneven: you might lose an entire budget before triggering a bonus, or land a round worth far more than you staked.

The table below shows why checking the version matters. We don't have verified figures for the lower settings, so these rows use example percentages to show the effect.
Illustration: how a lower RTP setting changes the average cost
Published sources quote the Money Cart 2 max win in different ways, in coins in one place and as a large currency amount in another, and we could not reconcile them. Rather than print a doubtful number, we suggest reading the cap in the game's own rules, where it is stated as a multiple of stake.
UK stake caps that limit the pound value of any max win
No autoplay: each spin must be started manually (autoplay ban).
At least 2.5 seconds per spin, no turbo and no slam-stop (spin speed rule).
No celebration of a return that doesn't exceed the stake.
Net position and time played on screen.
Stake caps of £5 (25+) and £2 (18–24) per spin (stake limits).
The speed rule matters here. On a game where most spins return nothing, a 2.5-second floor means at most about 1,440 spins an hour; at 50p that is up to £720 of stakes per hour. Setting a time limit as well as a deposit limit keeps that in check.
Money Cart 2 demo and checking the RTP
A Money Cart 2 demo lets you watch respin rounds play out without staking money. Free demo play is available after age verification at UK casinos, as required since May 2019 (demo age verification). Demo credits have no cash value.
Open the game and select the information or paytable button.
Find the RTP statement and check whether it reads 98.00% or a lower figure.
Read the bonus pages to see each special symbol and its range.
Find the maximum win statement and multiply by your stake.
Decide a session budget in spins: at 20p, £20 is 100 spins.
Money Cart 2 myths versus facts
'Two bonus symbols mean the third is due.' Each spin is independent; two symbols don't make the next spin more likely to trigger.
'A 98% RTP means you will get 98% back.' It is a long-run average; with no base-game wins, most sessions land far from it. Read how much do slot machines pay out?
'The respin counter resetting means a big win is coming.' New symbols reset the counter, but their values are random.
'Long dry spells mean the game is tight.' Dry spells are built into the design. Our page on loose and tight slot machines explains the myth.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Money Cart 2 RTP?
The top published RTP is 98.00%, which leaves a 2% house margin, and lower versions exist. At 98%, about £98 of every £100 staked is returned across millions of spins. Because the base game returns nothing, single sessions vary hugely from that average. Check the game's help screen to see which version your casino runs. Our high-RTP slot machines page compares other games with high published returns.
Can you win in the Money Cart 2 base game?
Published summaries describe the base game as carrying only blanks and bonus symbols, so no wins are paid there. Its only job is to land the bonus symbols that start the respin round, where all the game's return is paid. That is why a session can lose steadily for a long time and then recover in one round. Check the paytable in your version to confirm. Our hold and win page explains this style of game.
How does the Money Cart 2 bonus round work?
Three bonus symbols start a respin round with three respins. Every new symbol that lands sticks and resets the count to three, and the round ends when three respins pass with nothing new. Special symbols such as collectors, payers, snipers and necromancers change values on the grid, and persistent versions act on every remaining respin. Filling reels can expand the grid. Our respins page covers the mechanic in general.
What is the Money Cart 2 max win?
We have not printed a figure because published sources state it inconsistently and we could not verify one. The game's help screen states the cap as a multiple of your stake. Multiply that by your stake for the pound amount, bearing in mind UK players aged 25 and over can stake up to £5 a spin and those aged 18–24 up to £2. Our max win caps page explains how ceilings work.
Is Money Cart 2 the same as Money Train 2?
No, but they are related. Money Cart 2 is a Relax Gaming spin-off that takes the respin bonus from Money Train 2 and makes it the whole game, with a base game that only hunts for the trigger. Money Train 2 adds a line-paying base game and free spins around a similar respin feature. Compare the two on our Money Train 2 page, where the published RTP and max win are listed.
Is Money Cart 2 high volatility?
Yes, it is rated high volatility. With no base-game wins, almost every spin either loses the stake or starts a bonus, so the balance tends to fall steadily between rounds. When a round lands, it can return many times the stake, especially with persistent symbols. That suits a budget you are prepared to lose in full. Our high volatility slot machines page has budgeting tips.
Can I play a Money Cart 2 demo?
Yes, many UK-licensed casinos offer free demo play of Money Cart 2 after age verification, which has been required since May 2019. The demo uses play credits but the same rules, so you can watch the respin symbols interact before spending anything. Demo results don't predict real-money sessions, and demo credits can't be withdrawn. Our demo slots guide explains more.
Does a 98% RTP make Money Cart 2 a good bet?
A 98% RTP means a lower long-run cost than most slots, but it does not make the game profitable to play. At 20p a spin, 100 spins cost about 40p on average, yet any real session can lose the whole £20 because the base game pays nothing. RTP describes cost over millions of spins, not what happens in yours. Read is a high RTP slot better? for the full picture.
Who makes Money Cart 2?
Relax Gaming makes Money Cart 2. The studio is best known for the Money Train series, whose respin bonus became the basis for the Money Cart games. Relax also supplies games from partner studios through its platform. Money Cart 2 was released in 2021. Our Relax Gaming page covers the studio's history, maths habits and other well-known titles.
Why can't I use turbo or autoplay on Money Cart 2?
Because UK rules banned autoplay, turbo and slam-stop on online slots from 31 October 2021, and set a minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin. Some overseas versions of Money Cart 2 still show those buttons, but UK-licensed casinos must turn them off. The rules aim to slow the pace of play and help players keep track of spending. See our spin speed rule page for the detail.
