The Reactoonz slot is a 7×7 cluster pays game from Play'n GO with no traditional free spins round; instead, two on-screen meters fill as you win and fire special features. Its published RTP is 96.51%, volatility is high and the max win is 4,570 times the stake. This page explains the meters, the maths in pounds and what changes under UK rules.
Clusters of 5+ touching symbols on a 7×7 grid pay, then cascade away for further wins.
There are no free spins: value comes from the Quantumeter features and the giant Gargantoon wild.
Both meters reset after each paid sequence, so nothing carries over between spins.
RTP 96.51%: 100 spins at 50p (£50 staked) cost about £1.75 on long-run average, with wide swings.
The 4,570x max win is £9,140 at the £2 cap for 18–24s and £22,850 at £5 for over-25s.

Reactoonz at a glance: a grid slot without free spins
Reactoonz is one of the best-known games from Play'n GO, the Swedish studio also behind Book of Dead. The grid holds 49 positions filled with cartoon alien symbols: four one-eyed types that pay less and four two-eyed types that pay more. The art style is playful, but this is a high-volatility gambling product for adults, with a house edge on every spin.
What sets it apart is the absence of a scatter-triggered bonus. Many players expect free spins from every modern slot; here, everything happens inside the base game through charged meters and the wilds they release. That design makes the game feel continuous rather than split into base game and bonus.
How the Reactoonz slot machine pays
Reactoonz is a cluster pays slot machine. A win is five or more identical symbols joined horizontally or vertically. The paytable gives a value for each symbol at each cluster size, rising steeply for big groups.
Set your stake and start the spin by hand; UK versions have no autoplay.
The random number generator fills all 49 positions before the symbols drop.
The game finds every cluster of 5+ matching symbols and pays it.
Winning symbols are removed and their count is added to the meters.
New symbols fall into the gaps, a cascade that may create further clusters.
When no more wins form, any charged features fire, the meters reset and the spin ends.
Because the meters only fill through wins, a spin that misses on the first drop usually ends there. Spins that keep cascading become progressively more valuable as the meters charge.
The Quantumeter and the four Quantum features
Every symbol removed in a winning cluster adds a charge to the Quantumeter, shown at the side of the grid. When the meter fills a segment, one of four Quantum features fires at random. Broadly, they work as follows; the help screen of your version describes each one exactly.
Reactoonz Quantum features
Feature
What it does
Why it helps
Implosion
Removes random symbols and adds wild help to the grid
Opens gaps for new clusters
Incision
Places a wild and converts symbols along lines running from it
Builds large single-symbol groups
Demolition
Clears the one-eyed low-pay symbols from the grid
Leaves room for higher-paying symbols to drop
Alteration
Turns every symbol of one type into another type
Can merge two partial groups into one cluster
None of these features is selected by you, and none is more likely after a long run without one. They are part of the game’s random features, and their combined value is already counted in the 96.51% RTP.
The Fluctometer and the Gargantoon wild
A second meter, the Fluctometer, sits above the Quantumeter. If a sequence charges it fully, the Gargantoon appears: a 3×3 wild that takes part in clusters around it. After winning it breaks into smaller 2×2 wilds, and those in turn split into single-square wilds. Each split happens inside the same cascade sequence, so a Gargantoon can feed a long run of wins.
This is where the large results in Reactoonz come from. A spin that reaches the Gargantoon has already paid several cascades, and the splitting wild adds more. It is also rare. Most spins never come close, and a spin that charges part of the way gives no head start to the next one, because both meters reset at the end of every sequence.
Energoon wilds
During some cascade sequences the game also places single-square wilds called Energoons, which join clusters like any other wild symbol. The help screen sets out exactly when they appear and what happens after they win.
Why the Reactoonz slot has no free spins
Free spins are one way to concentrate value into a bonus. Reactoonz concentrates value into long cascade sequences instead. The effect is similar: most spins pay little or nothing, while a minority pay a lot. The difference is that you never see a bonus trigger coming. If you prefer a clearly signposted bonus, Jammin' Jars and Sugar Rush both pair cluster grids with scatter-triggered free spins.
Because there is no scatter bonus, bonus buy was never part of this game’s design, and UK-licensed versions behave the same way.
Reactoonz RTP and volatility
The published Reactoonz RTP is 96.51%, a house edge of 3.49%. Play'n GO, like many studios, supplies some titles at more than one RTP setting, so read the figure in the game rules before staking. Our guide to RTP variants explains why the same game can show different numbers at different casinos.
Volatility is high. In practice, long runs of single-drop spins are normal, and a large part of the RTP sits in the rare spins that reach the Gargantoon. Budget on the assumption that a session can end without one.

The averages are a price, not a prediction: a real 100-spin session can lose most of its stake or, rarely, pay many times over. The 4,570x figure is a cap reached by very few sequences. For the theory behind spread, see our standard deviation explainer.
Reactoonz 2 and Gigantoonz compared
Play'n GO has extended the idea twice. Reactoonz 2 keeps the 7×7 grid with a reworked set of features; Gigantoonz moves to an 8×8 grid. For a full comparison of the first two, see Reactoonz vs Reactoonz 2.

Reactoonz demo and the game rules
A Reactoonz demo is free demo play, after age verification; UK-licensed sites must confirm you are 18 or over before offering free-to-play games. Under the Gambling Commission’s standard on random outcomes (opens in a new tab), real-money results must be generated fairly and unpredictably, and demos must reflect the same maths, so a demo shows the true shape of the game.
UK rules for the Reactoonz slot
Since 31 October 2021 UK versions have had no autoplay, no turbo, a 2.5-second minimum game cycle, no celebration of a return at or below the stake, and a clear display of net position. The full requirements are in the Commission’s responsible product design standard (opens in a new tab). For Reactoonz, a cascade sequence that pays less than the stake is shown plainly rather than celebrated, which gives a more honest view of a session.
Stake limits are £5 per spin for over-25s and £2 per spin for 18–24s. Our page on losses disguised as wins explains why the celebration rule matters on cascading games in particular.
Reactoonz myths
“A nearly full meter means the Gargantoon is close next spin.” Meters reset after every sequence, so nothing carries forward.
“Demolition makes the next spin better.” Its effect ends with that spin.
“Cartoon games are lower risk.” Theme says nothing about volatility; Reactoonz is high volatility.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Reactoonz RTP?
The published Reactoonz RTP is 96.51%, meaning a house edge of 3.49% over the long run. On average, £100 staked returns £96.51, but that average only shows up across millions of spins; sessions vary greatly. Some casinos may run a different setting, so check the game rules before you play. Our explainer on RTP covers how the figure is calculated and why it cannot predict a single session.
What is the Reactoonz max win?
The Reactoonz max win is 4,570 times the stake. That is £457 at 10p, £9,140 at the £2 stake limit for 18–24-year-olds and £22,850 at the £5 limit for players aged 25 and over. It can only be reached through a long cascade sequence, usually involving the Gargantoon wild, and no published figure gives odds for it. Our what slot has the biggest max win page compares caps across popular games.
Does Reactoonz have free spins?
No. Reactoonz has no free spins round and no scatter symbols. Its extra value comes from two meters that charge as winning symbols are removed: the Quantumeter, which fires one of four Quantum features, and the Fluctometer, which releases the 3×3 Gargantoon wild. Both work inside ordinary spins. If you prefer a scatter-triggered bonus, many other cluster games include one. Our free spins feature page explains how bonus rounds normally work.
What does the Gargantoon do in Reactoonz?
The Gargantoon is a 3×3 wild that appears when the Fluctometer is fully charged during a cascade sequence. It joins clusters around it, then breaks into 2×2 wilds, which later split into single-square wilds, all within the same sequence. That chain of wilds is the main source of the game’s big results. It is rare, and partial charge does not carry over to the next spin. See our colossal symbols page for similar oversized symbols in other games.
Do the Reactoonz meters carry over between spins?
No. The Quantumeter and Fluctometer both reset at the end of every paid sequence, so a nearly full meter on one spin gives no advantage on the next. That is why it is not worth playing on to finish a charge: each spin starts from zero with a fresh random result. The design makes the game feel as though progress builds, but the maths does not. Our page on whether slot machines remember past spins explains the principle.
Is Reactoonz high volatility?
Yes, Reactoonz is rated high volatility. Most spins end after a single drop with little or no win, and much of the 96.51% return is concentrated in rare long cascades and Gargantoon sequences. A session can therefore lose steadily for a long time and occasionally pay a large amount. Smaller stakes stretch a budget across more spins. Our list of the most volatile slots puts it alongside similar games.
Can I play a Reactoonz demo in the UK?
It is available as free demo play, after age verification. Since May 2019 UK-licensed casinos must confirm that you are 18 or over before offering free-to-play slots, so you will usually need to register first. Demo play uses the same maths as the real game, so it is a fair way to see how rarely the meters fill. It cannot predict any future real-money spin. Our demo slots guide explains the rules.
How much does Reactoonz cost per 100 spins?
At £1 a spin, 100 spins means £100 staked, and at a 3.49% house edge the long-run average cost is about £3.49. At 20p a spin it is about 70p, and at the £5 maximum for over-25s about £17.45. Because the game is high volatility, a real 100-spin session can lose much more than the average. Plan a budget you can afford to lose. Different stakes can be run through the slot cost calculator.
Is Reactoonz better than Reactoonz 2?
Neither is better overall. The original has a published RTP of 96.51% and a 4,570x cap, while Reactoonz 2 lists 96.2% in its top version and a 5,083x cap. The sequel reworks the feature set, while the original relies purely on its two meters. If a slightly higher RTP matters most, the original edges it. Our Reactoonz vs Reactoonz 2 comparison covers the differences.
Is Reactoonz suitable for younger players?
No. Reactoonz is a real-money gambling game, and online slots in Great Britain are only legal for adults aged 18 and over, with age checks required before any play, including demos. Its cartoon look does not change that or make it lower risk; it is high volatility and the house edge applies to every spin. Parents worried about access can use device blocking tools. Our slot machine FAQs for parents explains the age rules.
