Reactoonz 2 slot explained

The Reactoonz 2 slot is Play'n GO's 2020 sequel to its alien cluster game: a 7×7 grid where groups of five or more matching symbols pay, vanish and let new ones drop in. Its top RTP is 96.2%, volatility is high and the stated max win is 5,083× your stake, so most of its value sits in rare, meter-driven wild sequences.

Key takeaways

  • Clusters of 5+ matching aliens pay, then cascade away so new symbols can fall in.
  • Two meters drive the action: the Fluctometer charges wilds and the Quantameter adds Energoon and Gargantoon wilds.
  • Top RTP is 96.2%, so £100 of spins costs about £3.80 on average over the long run.
  • Max win is 5,083× stake: £10,166 at the £2 limit for 18–24s and £25,415 at £5.
  • UK play has no autoplay, no turbo and no bonus buy, with at least 2.5 seconds per spin.

How the Reactoonz 2 slot machine works

Reactoonz 2 has no reels in the traditional sense. It is a grid slot with 49 positions arranged seven across and seven down, and it pays on cluster pays rules: five or more identical symbols touching horizontally or vertically form a winning group. Diagonal contact does not count.

Each time a cluster pays, its symbols are removed and the ones above fall to fill the gaps, with fresh symbols dropping in from the top. That chain is the familiar cascading reels idea, and one paid stake can therefore produce several wins in a row. The sequence ends when a drop produces no new cluster.

Play'n GO released the game on 1 October 2020, according to Play'n GO's own game page, which lists it as a grid slot with creature and sci-fi themes. As with every licensed online game, the outcome of the whole spin (including every cascade) is fixed by the random number generator before the animation begins.

One spin, step by step

  1. Choose your total stake. In Great Britain it cannot exceed £5 per spin, or £2 if you are 18–24.
  2. Press spin. The RNG decides the full result, including all the drops that will follow.
  3. Any group of 5+ touching matching aliens pays according to its size and symbol type.
  4. Winning symbols disappear, the grid settles and new symbols fall in.
  5. Wins with the round's fluctuating one-eyed alien add charge to the Fluctometer and leave Electric wilds.
  6. Electric wilds charge the Quantameter; partial charges add Energoon wilds and a full charge releases Gargantoon.
  7. The spin ends when no new clusters form, and the total is added to your balance.

Reactoonz 2 paytable and symbol groups

The paytable splits the aliens into two broad families. One-eyed aliens are the more common, lower-paying group, and one of them is picked at random each round to be the fluctuating symbol that feeds the Fluctometer. Two-eyed aliens are rarer and pay more for the same cluster size. Payouts scale with cluster size, so a group of 15 pays far more than a group of five.

Exact values change with your stake and are shown in pounds on the in-game paytable, so rather than reprinting a table that could differ from your version, the structure below shows what each element does. Open the game's help screen to see the live figures before you play.

Electric wilds, the Fluctometer and the Quantameter

The first Reactoonz built its features around one meter. The sequel uses two that interact, and understanding them is most of understanding the game.

The Fluctometer

At the start of each round one of the one-eyed aliens is chosen to fluctuate. Every winning cluster made of that symbol creates an Electric wild and fills part of the Fluctometer. When charge builds up, the meter charges uncharged wild symbols on the grid, which is what turns an ordinary cascade sequence into a longer one.

The Quantameter

Electric wilds feed the Quantameter (Play'n GO's spelling). Partial charges add Energoon wilds to the grid, and a full charge releases the Gargantoon wild. Because wilds can complete clusters that would otherwise fall one symbol short, each extra wild has a chance of keeping the cascade chain alive, and that is how the meters connect.

Meter progress belongs to the spin in progress. A half-full meter at the end of one paid spin does not carry over to make the next spin more likely to pay, so there is no reason to keep playing to ‘finish’ a meter.

Reactoonz 2 bonus: is there a free spins round?

Reactoonz 2 does not list a conventional free spins round on Play'n GO's page. Its bonus play happens inside the paid spin: wins create wilds, wilds charge the meters, meters add bigger wilds, and the chain can run for many drops. The Gargantoon release is the moment players think of as the bonus.

That design matters for budgeting. In a slot with a separate free spins round you can at least see the trigger symbols arrive. Here the meter sequences start from ordinary wins, which makes the game feel busy, but the expensive part of high volatility is the same: long runs of small or empty spins while you wait for a chain that pays well.

If you are searching for ‘Reactoonz 2 free spins’ because of a casino promotion, that is a different thing: casino free spins are pre-paid spins on selected games with their own terms. Our guide to how free spins work on slot machines separates the two.

Reactoonz 2 RTP and how to check your version

The Reactoonz 2 RTP is 96.2% for the top version. Like many studios, Play'n GO supplies some games at more than one setting, so the figure at a given casino can be lower. The rules in Great Britain require the help information to show how the game pays, which is where you find the RTP for the exact copy you are about to play.

  1. Open the game at the casino (not a third-party demo site).
  2. Tap the menu or the ‘i’ icon to open the rules and paytable.
  3. Scroll to the section on return to player; it is usually near the end.
  4. Compare it with 96.2%. If it is lower, you are on a lower RTP variant.
  5. Note the figure and decide whether to play there or elsewhere.

Stake per spinTotal stakedAverage cost (3.8%)

50p£50£1.90
£1£100£3.80
£2£200£7.60
£5£500£19.00

Those averages describe millions of spins. Over 100 spins on a high-volatility grid slot the real result can be anything from losing most of the stake to a large win; the house edge only shows up reliably over very long play.

Reactoonz 2 max win at UK stake limits

The stated Reactoonz 2 max win is 5,083 times the stake. That is a ceiling, not an expectation: it describes the rarest possible chain, and most sessions never come close. The max win caps explainer covers why studios publish these figures.

Reactoonz 2 maximum win by stake
StakeMax win (5,083×)Who can stake this online
10p£508.30All adults
£1£5,083All adults
£2£10,166Highest stake for 18–24s
£5£25,415Highest stake for 25+

The £2 and £5 ceilings come from the online slot stake limits that took effect on 9 April 2025 (£5 for 25 and over) and 21 May 2025 (£2 for 18–24), as set out in the Gambling Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab).

Reactoonz 2 volatility and what a session costs

High volatility means the game's return is concentrated in fewer, bigger results. Cascades produce plenty of small wins, but many are worth less than the stake, so the balance tends to drift down between meter sequences.

Time is the other cost. UK rules set a minimum game cycle of 2.5 seconds, so the fastest possible pace is about 1,440 spins an hour. At 20p that is £288 staked an hour, and at 96.2% the long-run average cost is about £10.94 an hour. Cascade animations usually make real play slower than the minimum, but the arithmetic shows why a session budget matters more than the RTP figure.

How UK rules shape Reactoonz 2

It arrived a year before the slot game design rules of 31 October 2021, and the copy at British casinos has been adjusted to them. That means no autoplay, a 2.5-second floor on every game cycle (cascades included), no slam-stop, and no fanfare for a chain that pays back your stake or less. The Commission's summary of the remote technical standard changes (opens in a new tab) sets out the wording.

  • Your net position and balance stay on screen throughout play.
  • No autoplay: every spin is a separate press.
  • No feature buy: slots supplied to Great Britain do not offer one (see bonus buy in the UK).
  • Stake caps of £5 (25+) and £2 (18–24) apply per spin.

Reactoonz 2 demo play in the UK

A Reactoonz 2 demo is useful for seeing the meters in action before you spend anything. Expect to prove you are an adult first: British-licensed sites have gated free play behind age checks since May 2019 (see demo slot age verification). Demo credits are not money and cannot be withdrawn.

Use a demo to learn what the Fluctometer and Quantameter look like and how long the cascades take, not to judge your chances. A short demo session tells you nothing reliable about payouts, as our comparison of demo and real-money slots explains.

Reactoonz 2 vs Reactoonz and similar cluster slots

Reactoonz 2 keeps the grid and the cast of the original Reactoonz but swaps its single-meter design for two linked meters. Play'n GO later went bigger again with Gigantoonz on an 8×8 grid. Our Reactoonz vs Reactoonz 2 comparison goes deeper on the differences.

Reactoonz 2 myths and facts

Common claims about Reactoonz 2
ClaimWhat actually happens
A nearly full meter means Gargantoon is dueEach spin is independent; nothing carries over that makes the next paid spin more likely to pay
Long cascades follow long dry spellsThe RNG has no memory, so there is no catch-up pattern
Raising the stake improves the oddsRTP is the same at every stake; only the pounds at risk change
The demo pays more than the real gameLicensed demos use the same maths; short samples just vary

The question of whether slot machines remember past spins has a short answer, no, and that is why ‘due’ thinking does not apply to any slot, online or in a venue.

Is the Reactoonz 2 slot worth playing?

Whether Reactoonz 2 is worth it depends on what you want from a session. It is entertainment that costs money, and high volatility makes that cost lumpy.

Advantages

  • Busy grid with something happening on most spins
  • Two linked meters give the features more depth than the original
  • 96.2% top RTP and a clear 5,083× ceiling
  • Low minimum stakes suit small budgets

Drawbacks

  • High volatility: long runs below the stake are normal
  • Many cascade wins are smaller than the stake

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Reactoonz 2?

Reactoonz 2 has a top RTP of 96.2%, but some casinos run lower settings. The figure means that over millions of spins the game returns about £96.20 of every £100 staked, so the long-run average cost is £3.80 per £100. Any single session can land far above or below that. To see the figure for the copy you are playing, open the rules from the game menu and look for the return to player line. Our guide on how to find a slot's RTP walks through it step by step, including why versions differ.

What is the Reactoonz 2 max win?

The Reactoonz 2 max win is 5,083 times your stake. At 10p that is £508.30, at £1 it is £5,083, at the £2 limit for players aged 18–24 it is £10,166, and at the £5 limit for players 25 and over it is £25,415. The ceiling needs a rare chain of wilds and cascades, so treat it as the top of the range rather than a target. Our page on what slot has the biggest max win puts the figure in context alongside other games' ceilings.

Does Reactoonz 2 have free spins?

No, Play'n GO does not list a separate free spins round for Reactoonz 2. The bonus action takes place inside each paid spin: wins with the fluctuating alien charge the Fluctometer, Electric wilds fill the Quantameter, and a full Quantameter releases the Gargantoon wild. A long chain can feel like a bonus round, but you are not awarded a set number of extra spins. Casino promotions that give free spins on selected games are a separate thing with their own terms. Our cascading reels explainer shows how the chain mechanic works.

How do you win on Reactoonz 2?

You win on Reactoonz 2 by landing five or more identical aliens that touch horizontally or vertically on the 7×7 grid. Bigger clusters pay more, and two-eyed aliens pay more than one-eyed ones. After each win the cluster disappears and new symbols fall, which can create further wins from the same stake. Wilds substitute in clusters and are added by the game's meters. No technique changes the result, because the RNG fixes it when you press spin. Our page on how to win on slot machines explains the limits of any approach honestly.

What is Gargantoon in Reactoonz 2?

Gargantoon is the largest wild in Reactoonz 2 and the leader of the alien cast. It is released when the Quantameter is fully charged, which happens through Electric wilds created by wins with the fluctuating one-eyed alien. Because it covers several positions, it can complete clusters across a wide area of the grid and keep a cascade sequence going. It does not appear on a schedule: whether a spin reaches a full charge is decided by the RNG. Read more about mega symbols for the general idea behind oversized symbols.

Is Reactoonz 2 high volatility?

Yes, Reactoonz 2 is rated high volatility. That means its return is concentrated in less frequent, larger wins, with plenty of small cascades and empty spins in between. In practice a £20 budget at 20p a spin can run down quickly or be extended by one good chain, and both are normal. If you prefer a steadier experience, a low or medium volatility game spreads its return more evenly. The list of high-volatility slot machines shows how it compares with similar games.

Can I play the Reactoonz 2 demo for free in the UK?

Yes, free demo play is available at many UK-licensed casinos, but only after age verification, a requirement since May 2019. Demo credits have no cash value and any demo wins cannot be withdrawn. A demo is a good way to see how the Fluctometer and Quantameter work and how long the cascades take, but a short demo session says nothing reliable about real-money results. Our demo slots guide covers where demos are offered and why you need to verify your age first.

What is the maximum stake on Reactoonz 2 in the UK?

The maximum stake on Reactoonz 2 at a UK-licensed casino is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 if you are aged 18 to 24. Those caps apply to all online slots and came into force on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025. The game itself may list a higher maximum in other markets, but the casino must apply the UK cap to your account. The stake limit for 18 to 24-year-olds page gives the details, dates and worked examples.

Is Reactoonz 2 better than the original Reactoonz?

Neither is better in money terms; they are different designs. The original Reactoonz has a slightly higher top RTP of 96.51% and a 4,570× max win, while Reactoonz 2 has a 96.2% top RTP and a 5,083× max win. The sequel adds a second meter and more wild types, which makes features more layered. Both are high volatility on a 7×7 grid. If you enjoy the meters, the sequel gives you more to watch. Compare them side by side on our Reactoonz vs Reactoonz 2 page for the full breakdown.

Can I buy the bonus on Reactoonz 2 in the UK?

No, you cannot buy the bonus on Reactoonz 2 at a UK-licensed casino. Slots supplied to players in Great Britain do not offer feature buys, so the only way to reach the Gargantoon wild is through ordinary paid spins. Some reference sites list a bonus buy for other markets, which can cause confusion. The UK version also has no autoplay and no turbo, and every spin takes at least 2.5 seconds. The autoplay ban page covers the related design changes in more detail.
