Big Bass Splash slot

The Big Bass Splash slot is a Reel Kingdom fishing game, distributed by Pragmatic Play, with a published 96.71% RTP, high volatility and a 5,000x max win. It keeps the Big Bass formula of fish carrying cash values and a fisherman wild who collects them in free spins, but with a much higher ceiling than the original Big Bass Bonanza.

Big Bass Splash: where it fits in the series

Reel Kingdom made its name with Big Bass Bonanza in December 2020, and the studio has since built an entire franchise on the same idea, distributed through Pragmatic Play. Big Bass Splash is one of the main follow-ups. It shares the 5×3 grid, 10 lines and fisherman-collects-fish mechanic, but lifts the published max win from 2,100x on the original to 5,000x.

That higher ceiling is the key to understanding the game. Both games publish the same 96.71% RTP, so the extra top-end potential has to be balanced somewhere, usually in how often meaningful features land. The two are compared in detail in Big Bass Bonanza vs Big Bass Splash.

How the Big Bass Splash slot machine works

The game's random number generator decides the outcome the instant you press spin. The reels, the splash animations and any reeling-in are presentation. A paid spin works like this:

  1. Choose the stake; all 10 lines are fixed.
  2. Spin. The RNG fixes the symbols on all five reels.
  3. Line wins of three or more matching symbols from the leftmost reel are paid; some high symbols pay for two.
  4. Fish symbols showing cash values can land; in the base game they pay only when they form a normal line win.
  5. Three or more scatters start the free spins.
  6. During free spins, any fisherman wild collects the cash values of every fish on screen.

That split between base game and free spins is why fish in the base game can feel frustrating. Without a fisherman to collect them, their cash values are just a preview of what the feature can do.

Fish money symbols and the fisherman wild

Each fish symbol shows a value expressed as a multiple of your stake. The fisherman symbol is a wild that, during free spins, collects the total of every fish visible on the reels. This is a classic cash collect mechanic.

Worked example at 20p a spin: a free spin shows three fish worth £1, £2 and £10 and one fisherman. The fisherman collects £13. If two fishermen land on the same spin, each collects, so the total is £26. Any normal line wins on the spin are paid as well.

Fish values in the game are shown in pounds at your current stake. They are set by the RNG on each spin; there is no way to influence them.

Big Bass Splash free spins and multipliers

Scatters trigger the free spins, with more scatters awarding more spins. Inside the round, a counter tracks every fisherman you collect. Each fourth fisherman retriggers the round with extra spins and raises a multiplier on the fish values the fisherman collects, a form of increasing multiplier in free spins.

Before the round begins, the game can also apply random modifiers that change the reels for that round, such as extra fish or extra fishermen. The exact list, the spins per scatter count and the multiplier at each level are in the help screen; read it before relying on any figure, because the Big Bass games differ in these details.

Big Bass Splash RTP and cost per 100 spins

The published Big Bass Splash RTP is 96.71%, a house edge of 3.29%. Pragmatic Play, which distributes Reel Kingdom's games, can offer lower-RTP versions to casinos, so the figure in the help screen at your casino is the one to trust.

Big Bass Splash cost per 100 spins at 96.71% RTP

10p£10£9.67£0.33
20p£20£19.34£0.66

£1£100£96.71£3.29
£2£200£193.42£6.58
£5£500£483.55£16.45

With high volatility, most of the RTP is paid through the free spins. A session of 100 spins that doesn't trigger the feature will usually lose much more than the average shown.

Big Bass Splash max win at UK stake limits

The published Big Bass Splash max win is 5,000 times the stake. In pounds:

Big Bass Splash max win (5,000x) by stake
Stake per spinMax win
10p£500
20p£1,000
£1£5,000
£2 (limit for ages 18–24)£10,000
£5 (limit for ages 25+)£25,000

Stakes on online slots in Great Britain are limited to £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, under the Gambling Commission's stake limit rules (opens in a new tab). Reaching the cap needs a free spins round that collects many fishermen and high-value fish at the top multiplier; most rounds pay far less.

How UK rules change Big Bass Splash

Versions played outside Britain may show a button to buy the free spins. Games supplied to Great Britain don't offer it, so the only way into the round is through scatters; see bonus buy in the UK.

The Commission's responsible product design standard (opens in a new tab), in force since 31 October 2021, also removes autoplay and turbo spins, sets a 2.5-second minimum per spin, bans slam-stop and stops the game celebrating a return no bigger than your stake. Our autoplay ban and net position rule pages explain what you'll see on screen.

Is Big Bass Splash worth playing?

Advantages

  • Published 96.71% RTP, among the higher figures for a mainstream slot.
  • Clear, familiar Big Bass mechanics.
  • 5,000x ceiling, well above the original's 2,100x.
  • Free spins progression gives rounds a sense of build-up.

Drawbacks

  • High volatility: features can take a long time to arrive.
  • Base game pays little on its own.
  • Lower-RTP versions may be in use at some casinos.
  • Many similar Big Bass titles make figures easy to confuse.

It suits adults who already like Big Bass Bonanza and want more top-end range, accepting longer quiet spells. If you prefer a gentler game, compare it with our high-RTP slot machines list or browse all slot reviews.

Big Bass Splash myths

  • "Lots of fish in the base game means free spins are close." Each spin is independent. Fish values in the base game don't build towards anything.
  • "Reaching the third fisherman means the fourth is due." The counter only tracks what has landed; the next spin is still random.
  • "Splash pays more than Bonanza because the max win is higher." Both publish the same RTP; the higher ceiling is balanced elsewhere in the maths.

Big Bass Splash demo play

You can usually try a Big Bass Splash demo after age verification, which UK operators have required before free play since May 2019. Under the Commission's play-for-free standard (opens in a new tab), a demo must reflect the real game. Pragmatic Play also lists its portfolio on its studio website (opens in a new tab). A demo shows the collect mechanic clearly, but its results won't predict a real session.

Where to play Big Bass Splash in the UK

The Big Bass games are widely stocked, but check the casino's lobby for Big Bass Splash before signing up, as availability changes. Note the difference between the two games when reading offers: PlayOJO's 80 no-wagering free spins, for new UK customers making a first deposit of £10 or more, are played on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, not on Splash; see our Big Bass Bonanza free spins page. Coral gives new players 100 free spins at 10p after depositing and betting £10 on slots, and Ladbrokes gives up to 500 free spins over 10 days after £10 of slot play; both use selected games. 18+, terms apply.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Big Bass Splash RTP?

The published RTP of Big Bass Splash is 96.71%, so the long-run house edge is 3.29%. Over millions of spins it returns about £96.71 of every £100 staked to players as a group. Some casinos may run a lower-RTP version, so check the rules page inside the game before you play. Individual sessions vary widely from the average. Our RTP variants page explains why one slot can have several RTPs.

What is the Big Bass Splash max win?

The maximum win on Big Bass Splash is 5,000 times the stake. That is £500 at 10p a spin, £5,000 at £1, £10,000 at the £2 limit for players aged 18 to 24, and £25,000 at the £5 limit for those aged 25 and over. Reaching it needs an exceptional free spins round at the highest multiplier level, so it is very rare. Compare it with other games in what slot has the biggest max win.

How do Big Bass Splash free spins work?

Three or more scatter symbols start the free spins. During the round, fish symbols carry cash values and every fisherman wild that lands collects them all. Fishermen are counted, and each fourth one retriggers the round with extra spins and raises the multiplier on collected fish values. Random modifiers can also apply at the start. The exact spin counts and multipliers are in the help screen. Our free spins retrigger page explains how retriggers work.

Is Big Bass Splash better than Big Bass Bonanza?

Neither is better in value terms: both publish a 96.71% RTP and high volatility. The main difference is the ceiling, with Splash at 5,000x and the original at 2,100x. A higher ceiling usually means the bigger results are rarer, so Splash may suit those who accept longer dry spells. If you prefer the original, PlayOJO's welcome spins are played on it. Our Big Bass Bonanza vs Big Bass Splash page compares them.

Who makes Big Bass Splash?

Reel Kingdom develops this game, and Pragmatic Play distributes it. Reel Kingdom is best known for the Big Bass series, which began with Big Bass Bonanza on 14 December 2020, and its signature mechanic is a fisherman wild that collects fish cash values. Several of its games publish a 96.71% top RTP. Our Reel Kingdom provider page covers more of its slots and how the partnership with Pragmatic Play works.

Can I buy the free spins on Big Bass Splash?

Not at UK-licensed casinos. Versions supplied to Great Britain don't include a bonus buy option, so the free spins can only be reached by landing scatters in normal play. You may see a buy button in videos recorded in other countries. This reflects how games are supplied to the British market rather than a single dated rule. Our page on bonus buy in the UK explains the background.

Do fish pay in the Big Bass Splash base game?

Fish cash values are collected only when a fisherman wild collects them, which happens in free spins. In the base game, fish behave as ordinary symbols and can pay through normal line wins, but their displayed cash values are not paid on their own. That is why spins full of fish can still return nothing. Check the help screen for any base-game feature in your version. Our cash collect feature page explains how collectors work.

Is there a Big Bass Splash demo?

Yes, demo versions are widely available, but only after age verification, which has been required for free play in Great Britain since May 2019. The demo uses virtual credits and must behave like the real game under Gambling Commission standards. It is useful for watching how the fisherman counter and multipliers build, but demo results don't predict real-money play. See our demo slots guide for more detail.

How long will £20 last on Big Bass Splash?

It depends on stake and luck. At 20p a spin, £20 is 100 spins at face value, and at 96.71% RTP the long-run average cost of those spins is about 66p. Because the game is high volatility, though, £20 can disappear well before a free spins round lands, or last much longer after one. Set the budget in advance and stop when it is used. Our how long does £100 last on slots page shows the maths.
