Kinds
| Kind | How it works | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | Every feature win is multiplied | Fluffy Favourites: wins tripled |
| Symbol | A symbol carrying a value lands | Gates of Olympus orbs, 2x to 500x |
| Accumulating | Values add into a running total | Gates of Olympus free spins |
| Stepped | Rises at set points | Big Bass Bonanza: 2x, 3x, 10x |
| Per cascade | Rises with each tumble | Megaways free spins |
Adding and multiplying
On Sweet Bonanza, several bombs on one tumble are added together, then applied to the win. Two 50x bombs make 100x, not 2,500x.
Why they matter
A 5,000x or 21,100x maximum win is unreachable on symbol payouts alone. Multipliers bridge the gap, rarely.

Reading the cap
Many machines state a maximum win, such as 5,000 times the stake, at which a round ends however many multipliers are still to come. The paytable says so.
