Nudges
Step a reel down one position at a time.
Key takeaways
- A British fruit machine feature.
- Awarded at random.
- Use them to complete a line.
- Look above the win line.
In shortA nudge moves one reel by a single position. When nudges are awarded, look at the symbols just above the win line and step down whichever reel completes a win.
How nudges work
The machine awards a number of nudges, often one to four. Each press of a nudge button moves that reel one symbol. You see part of the reel above the line, so you can plan.
Using them
- Count your nudges.
- Look at the symbols one and two positions above the line on each reel.
- Find the cheapest way to line up three.
- If no win is reachable, aim for feature-trail numbers.
- Unused nudges are usually lost.
Nudge gambles
Some machines let you gamble nudges for more, or bank them for the next spin. Banking is usually the better choice when no win is reachable.
Skill or luck?
Using nudges well takes attention, not luck, which is why British machines were long described as having a skill element. The percentage return is still set by the machine.
