Quickspin slots come from a Stockholm studio set up in the early 2010s and owned by Playtech since May 2016, best known for Big Bad Wolf, Sakura Fortune and other storybook-style video slots. This page explains how its games are built, which RTP versions you may meet in UK casinos, what play costs on average and how to check a game before staking.
Quickspin is a Swedish studio founded in the early 2010s and part of Playtech since May 2016.
It holds Gambling Commission account 38516 and lists about 150 video slots.
Big Bad Wolf publishes 97.34% RTP, the highest in our Quickspin data.
Some Quickspin games exist in several RTP versions, so the help screen figure is the one that counts.
Most of its well-known titles are 5-reel games with 20 to 40 lines or growing ways.

What are Quickspin slots?
Quickspin is a video slot developer based in Stockholm. Reference listings date its founding to 2012, and the company has offices in Sliema, Malta, and Kyiv, Ukraine, alongside its Swedish base. It makes games for licensed online casinos, so you find Quickspin titles in a casino’s lobby rather than on a Quickspin site.
In May 2016 the studio was bought by Playtech (opens in a new tab), one of the largest suppliers of gambling software. Quickspin kept its own name and style, and our Playtech provider page covers the parent group. Today the catalogue runs to about 150 video slots, and the studio has added Quickspin Live, a separate live-casino product.
The common thread in Quickspin’s best-known games is a storybook look: fairy tales such as the Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks, a Japanese setting in Sakura Fortune, and cartoonish dwarfs and bandits. Those themes are aimed at adults who like polished presentation; the maths underneath is standard video slot design.

Popular Quickspin slots compared
These are the Quickspin games in our checked data. RTPs marked “default” are the standard version; casinos can choose other approved versions.
Quickspin is one of several studios that supply the same game at different return levels. The casino picks one, and the game’s help screen must show it. Sakura Fortune shows how big the gap can be: our checked data lists a version up to 96.58% and another around 90%.

The lower Sakura Fortune version costs roughly three times as much on average as the top one, for the same graphics and the same features. That is the strongest argument for checking the RTP every time. Our guide to RTP variants explains why studios make them, and reading slot RTP in the UK shows where to find the figure.
All these figures are averages over millions of spins. In a single session you can lose much more than the average, or come out ahead; the RTP never promises either.
Why Big Bad Wolf stands out among Quickspin slots
Big Bad Wolf’s 97.34% is the highest published RTP in our Quickspin data and is above the 96% many players treat as typical. Combined with medium volatility, it means a smaller average cost and somewhat steadier play than Hot Sync or Sticky Bandits. A 20p stake for 100 spins is £20 staked, with a long-run average cost of about 53p.
A higher RTP is not a better chance of a big win; it is a lower average price. If you want to know which games publish the highest returns across all studios, our page on which slot has the highest RTP keeps a comparison, and are high-RTP slots better? explains the trade-offs.
Quickspin max wins and UK stake limits
We don’t list max win multiples for Quickspin games because our checked data doesn’t confirm them. Each game’s help screen states the maximum win, usually as a multiple of the stake. To turn it into pounds, multiply by your stake: a 5,000x cap at 50p, for example, would be £2,500.
Every Quickspin game offered by a UK casino follows the British design rules in force since 31 October 2021. You start each spin yourself because autoplay is banned, each game cycle lasts at least 2.5 seconds, and turbo and slam-stop are switched off. The game must not celebrate a win that is equal to or smaller than your stake, and it must show your balance and net position. Our UK slot machine rules guide brings these together.
There is no paid route into a bonus at UK-licensed casinos either, so British versions trigger features through play alone.
How to find and check a Quickspin slot
Search the casino lobby for Quickspin or a title such as Big Bad Wolf.
Before spinning, open the help or info screen and read the RTP shown.
Compare it with the published default; if it is several points lower, consider another game.
Check the maximum win and the feature rules in the same screen.
Set a time reminder and a deposit limit in your account before you play.
Quickspin slot myths and facts
Myth: a high-RTP game like Big Bad Wolf will pay back most of a session. Fact: 97.34% is a long-run average; individual sessions vary widely.
Myth: the same title always has the same RTP. Fact: casinos can run different approved versions, as Sakura Fortune shows.
Myth: storybook graphics mean gentler maths. Fact: Hot Sync is rated high volatility despite its look; read the specification, not the art.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns Quickspin?
Quickspin has been owned by Playtech since May 2016. The studio was founded in Stockholm in the early 2010s, with reference listings giving 2012, and it has offices in Sliema, Malta, and Kyiv, Ukraine. It still releases games under the Quickspin name and holds its own Gambling Commission licence, account 38516. Being part of a large group doesn’t change how individual games pay; each still has its own published RTP. Read more on our Playtech page and what a slot provider is.
What is the RTP of Big Bad Wolf?
Big Bad Wolf publishes an RTP of 97.34%, the highest among the Quickspin games in our checked data. In practice that means a long-run average cost of £2.66 per £100 staked, or about 53p over 100 spins at 20p. That is an average over a huge number of spins, not a forecast for one session, and the casino may run a different approved version, so confirm the figure in the help screen. The Big Bad Wolf page covers its features and paytable in detail.
Why does Sakura Fortune have two RTPs?
Quickspin supplies Sakura Fortune at more than one return level, and each casino chooses which to run. Our checked data lists a version up to 96.58% and another around 90%. On £100 staked, that is an average cost of about £3.42 at the top version against about £10 at the lower one, for an identical-looking game. The help screen must show the version in use, so check it before playing. See Sakura Fortune and our guide to finding a slot’s RTP.
Are Quickspin slots high volatility?
Some are and some aren’t. In our checked data, Big Bad Wolf and Phoenix Sun are rated medium, Sticky Bandits and Dwarfs Gone Wild medium–high, and Hot Sync high. Volatility describes how the return is spread: higher-volatility games pay less often but with bigger swings, so a budget can run out faster. Sakura Fortune’s rating isn’t confirmed in our data, so check the game information. Our volatility explainer and medium-volatility slot machines page explain the differences.
Is Quickspin licensed in the UK?
Yes, Quickspin holds a Gambling Commission licence under account 38516 and is also licensed in Malta. That allows it to supply games to UK-licensed casinos. The studio’s licence is separate from the casino’s, so you should also check that any site you play at holds its own Commission operating licence. Both can be searched on the Commission’s public register. For how licensing works across the industry, read the Gambling Commission and slots and are slot machines legal in the UK?
What is the maximum win on Quickspin slots?
It varies by game, and we don’t quote figures our checked data can’t confirm, so look at each game’s help screen, where the maximum win is normally given as a multiple of the stake. Multiply that by your stake to get the pound figure; for example, a 2,000x cap at £1 would be £2,000. Remember the UK stake limits of £5 per spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24 year olds. Our max win glossary entry and max win caps page explain the details.
Can I play Quickspin slots for free?
Many UK casinos offer free demo play of Quickspin games after you have verified your age, a rule in place since May 2019. Demo versions use the same maths as the real game, so they show how features like Phoenix Sun’s expanding rows behave without staking money. Demo credits have no value and you can’t win anything, which is worth remembering if a demo session feels unusually lucky. Our demo slots guide and are free slot games the same as real ones? explain more.
What is Quickspin Live?
Quickspin Live is the studio’s live-casino product, run alongside its catalogue of about 150 video slots. It is a separate type of game from the slots covered on this site, with its own rules and return levels. If you play both, remember that UK online casino games other than slots must take at least 5 seconds per game cycle since 17 January 2025, while slots have a 2.5-second minimum. Our guide to what changed for slots in 2025 and 2026 summarises the recent rule changes.
Which Quickspin slot is best for a small budget?
A medium-volatility game with a high published RTP usually stretches a small budget furthest, which points to Big Bad Wolf at 97.34%. Its average cost is about 53p per 100 spins at 20p, although any session can lose more. Phoenix Sun, also medium volatility, publishes 96.08% in its default version. High-volatility games such as Hot Sync are more likely to burn through a small balance before a feature lands. See best slots for small budgets and how long £100 lasts on slots.
