Starlight Princess 1000 slot

The Starlight Princess 1000 slot is Pragmatic Play's October 2023 remake of its anime-styled pays-anywhere game, with multiplier orbs worth up to 1000x and a top prize of 15,000x the stake. Below we explain how the grid pays, what the multipliers really do to your balance, the RTP and what a session costs at UK stakes.

Key takeaways

  • Wins pay for 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on a 6 × 5 grid, then tumble away so new symbols can drop in.
  • Multiplier symbols range from 2x to 1000x; in free spins they are added to a running total that boosts later wins.
  • RTP is 96.50% on the top version, but lower versions exist, so check the help screen before you play.
  • Max win is 15,000x the stake: £1,500 at 10p, £30,000 at the £2 limit for 18–24s and £75,000 at £5.
  • Volatility is high (5/5 on the in-game scale), so long dry runs are normal and losses are likely over time.

What the Starlight Princess 1000 slot is

This is a video slot from Pragmatic Play that keeps the layout, symbols and rules of the original Starlight Princess but stretches the multiplier range and the prize cap. The original tops out at 5,000x the stake; the 1000 edition raises that ceiling to 15,000x and lets a single multiplier orb land at 1000x. It belongs to the same family of remakes as Gates of Olympus 1000 and Sweet Bonanza 1000.

The theme is a magical-girl anime heroine floating beside a grid of gems, hearts, stars and moons. The art is purely decoration: what decides your result is a random number generator inside the game server, and the princess animation is simply the way the outcome is shown to you. If you want the full background on that, our page on the random number generator explains how a result is fixed before anything moves.

How the Starlight Princess 1000 slot machine works, step by step

There are no paylines. The game is a pays-anywhere slot: it counts how many of each symbol are visible on the 30 positions, and any symbol with 8 or more copies pays, wherever they sit. A winning group then disappears, the remaining symbols fall, and fresh ones drop from above. Pragmatic Play's description says there is no limit to how many consecutive tumbles can follow one paid spin.

  1. Choose your total stake. At a UK-licensed casino the maximum is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 if you are 18 to 24.
  2. Press spin. The server draws the result, and the grid fills with 30 symbols.
  3. The game counts each symbol type. Eight or more of one kind pays the amount shown in the paytable for that count band.
  4. Winning symbols are removed and the gaps refill from above. This is the cascading reels mechanic, which Pragmatic calls a tumble.
  5. Any multiplier orbs that are on the grid when the tumble sequence ends are added together, and that sum multiplies the total win of the sequence.
  6. When no new win forms, the sequence stops and the total is credited. Under UK rules the next spin cannot start until at least 2.5 seconds have passed.

Starlight Princess 1000 paytable structure and symbols

The paytable splits the symbols into two tiers. The lower tier is five coloured gems; the upper tier is the themed icons, such as hearts, stars and moons. Each symbol pays in three count bands rather than per line, and higher counts pay more. The exact multiples sit in the in-game paytable and move with your stake, so open it at the stake you intend to use rather than relying on figures quoted elsewhere.

How Starlight Princess 1000 counts a win
ElementWhat it doesPays on its own?
Gem symbols (low)Pay for 8–9, 10–11 or 12+ anywhereYes, small amounts
Themed symbols (high)Same count bands, larger payoutsYes
Princess scatterPays on any position; 4+ start free spinsYes, by count
Multiplier orbValues from 2x to 1000x, summed per tumble sequenceNo, multiplies wins only

Because a cluster needs eight symbols, the low gems do most of the routine paying. Small returns smaller than your stake are common, and since 31 October 2021 UK games are not allowed to celebrate those with win sounds and animations. That rule is known as the ban on losses disguised as wins.

Starlight Princess 1000 free spins and the multiplier total

The princess herself is the scatter symbol. Pragmatic Play's game page says landing four or more scatters triggers the free spins round. Inside the bonus the multipliers stop resetting: every orb that lands on a winning tumble sequence is added to a running total, and that total is applied to the wins that follow. The number of spins awarded and the retrigger rule are set out in the help screen; check them there, because figures copied around the web don't always match the version you are playing.

Worked example of the running multiplier

Imagine a 20p stake. On the second free spin a tumble sequence pays £1.20 and a 10x orb lands, so the running total becomes 10x and that sequence pays £12. Two spins later a 5x orb lands with a 60p win; the total rises to 15x and that win becomes £9. A later spin with a £2 win and no orb still gets the 15x total, paying £30. This is what increasing multipliers in free spins means in practice: early orbs make later wins bigger, but only if later wins actually arrive.

Treat the example as an illustration of the arithmetic, not a prediction. Many bonus rounds collect a large multiplier and then land very few wins for it to act on.

Starlight Princess 1000 RTP and volatility explained

The top published RTP is 96.50%. That means that across millions of spins the game is designed to return £96.50 for every £100 staked, keeping £3.50 as the house edge. Casinos can choose lower-RTP builds of many Pragmatic games, so the figure in your lobby may differ; our page on RTP variants explains why one title can have several settings.

Volatility is listed as high, the maximum 5 out of 5 on the game's own lightning-bolt scale. In plain terms, a large share of the RTP is concentrated in rare bonus rounds with big multipliers, while ordinary spins mostly return less than the stake. Your result over an evening can differ wildly from 96.50% in either direction.

Starlight Princess 1000 cost per 100 spins at 96.50% RTP
Stake per spinTotal stakedLong-run average cost
10p£1035p
20p£2070p
50p£50£1.75
£1£100£3.50
£2 (limit for 18–24s)£200£7
£5 (limit for 25+)£500£17.50

Those costs are averages over a very long run. In a single session of 100 spins at 20p, you could easily finish £15 down or, less often, well ahead. A slot cost calculator lets you run the same sums for your own stake and spin count.

Starlight Princess 1000 max win at UK stakes

The maximum win is 15,000x the stake. Pragmatic Play games stop the round once that cap is reached, so it is a ceiling, not a target; our guide to max win caps explains how that cut-off works. In pounds it looks like this:

Starlight Princess 1000 max win by stake
StakeMax win (15,000x)
10p£1,500
20p£3,000
£1£15,000
£2 (18–24 limit)£30,000
£5 (25+ limit)£75,000

No developer publishes how often the cap is reached, and we won't guess. It is fair to say it is far rarer than an ordinary bonus round, and most players will never see it.

Is the Starlight Princess 1000 slot worth it for you?

Advantages

  • Simple rules: count symbols, watch tumbles, add multipliers.
  • 96.50% top RTP is above many online slots.
  • A higher ceiling than the original game for players who accept the swings.
  • Low minimum stakes make it usable on a small budget.

Drawbacks

  • High volatility means long losing runs are normal.
  • Large orbs often land on spins with no win to multiply.
  • Lower-RTP versions exist and are not always obvious.
  • Busy animations can make a session feel faster than it is.

It suits adults who enjoy a pays-anywhere grid and are comfortable treating a fixed budget as the cost of entertainment. Players who prefer steadier, smaller returns may find a medium volatility slot easier to live with.

Mechanically, Starlight Princess 1000 and Gates of Olympus 1000 are close siblings with different art, so our Gates of Olympus vs Sweet Bonanza comparison is a useful guide to how the family differs. For a grid that pays on connected clusters instead, see Sugar Rush 1000.

Starlight Princess 1000 myths versus how the maths works

  • "A big orb means the bonus is close." Each spin is drawn independently. A 1000x orb on a losing spin tells you nothing about the next one.
  • "The game pays more after a long dry spell." Slots have no memory; see do slot machines remember past spins.
  • "Three scatters is a near miss." The result was decided before the tumble started. Our page on slot machine near misses explains why it feels close but isn't.
  • "Stopping the animation changes the outcome." UK games no longer have slam-stop, and the outcome was never affected by it anyway.

How to check the Starlight Princess 1000 RTP before playing

  1. Open the game in the casino lobby, in demo mode if you prefer. Free demo play is available only after age verification, under UK rules since May 2019.
  2. Tap the menu or the information icon, usually shown as an 'i' or three lines.
  3. Scroll to the end of the rules pages, where Pragmatic Play lists the theoretical RTP.
  4. Compare it with 96.50%. If it is lower, the casino is using a different version.
  5. Read the free spins page for the trigger, number of spins and retrigger rule for that build.

Our step-by-step guide on how to find a slot's RTP has screenshots-in-words for other developers too, and the demo slots guide covers what demo mode can and can't tell you.

UK rules that shape this online slot

The British version differs from what you may see in videos filmed elsewhere. Since 31 October 2021 the Gambling Commission's remote technical standards changes (opens in a new tab) have banned autoplay, turbo and slam-stop, and set a minimum game cycle of 2.5 seconds. Stake limits followed in 2025, set out in the Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab): £5 per spin for players 25 and over from 9 April 2025, and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds from 21 May 2025.

Slots supplied to Great Britain also don't offer a bonus buy, so the option to pay a multiple of the stake to go straight into free spins is not part of the UK game; see bonus buy in the UK. Some Pragmatic games include an ante bet that raises the stake to improve the scatter chance; if your version shows one, the extra cost counts toward the stake limit.

Where to play the Starlight Princess 1000 slot in the UK

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Starlight Princess 1000?

The top RTP of Starlight Princess 1000 is 96.50%. That is a long-run figure measured over millions of spins: it means £96.50 is paid back on average for every £100 staked, and the remaining £3.50 is the house edge. Pragmatic Play also supplies lower-RTP versions to casinos that request them, so the setting at your casino could be lower. You can confirm it in the game's rules screen before you stake any money. The RTP explainer covers the details.

What is the Starlight Princess 1000 max win?

It is 15,000 times your total stake. At a 10p stake that is £1,500, at £1 it is £15,000, at the £2 limit for 18 to 24-year-olds it is £30,000, and at the £5 limit for players aged 25 and over it is £75,000. The game ends the round once the cap is reached, so wins cannot go beyond it. No official figure says how often the cap is hit, and it is extremely rare. See our explainer on max win caps for how the cut-off works.

How do you trigger free spins on Starlight Princess 1000?

You trigger free spins by landing four or more princess scatter symbols anywhere on the grid, according to Pragmatic Play's game page. The scatters can appear in any position, and they also pay a prize based on how many land. During the bonus, multiplier orbs are collected into a running total that is applied to later wins. The exact spin count and retrigger rules are listed in the help screen, which is the most reliable source for the version you are playing. Our guide to how free spins work on slot machines covers the general mechanics.

Is Starlight Princess 1000 high volatility?

Yes, it is a high-volatility slot, rated 5 out of 5 on the game's own scale. That means much of its return is concentrated in rare bonus rounds with large multipliers, while most ordinary spins return less than the stake or nothing at all. Long sessions without a bonus are normal and do not mean one is due. If you play, set a budget you are happy to lose and stick to it. For what that means in pounds, read about high-volatility slot machines.

How is Starlight Princess different from Starlight Princess 1000?

The main difference is the size of the multipliers and the top prize. Both games use a 6 × 5 pays-anywhere grid with tumbles, a princess scatter and a 96.50% top RTP. The 1000 edition lets multiplier orbs reach 1000x and raises the max win from 5,000x to 15,000x the stake, which makes the game swingier. Graphics and symbols are almost identical, so the choice comes down to how much volatility you are willing to accept. See our page on the original Starlight Princess and our guide to slot sequels.

Can I play a Starlight Princess 1000 demo in the UK?

Yes, you can usually play a Starlight Princess 1000 demo at UK casinos, but only after age verification. Since May 2019 the Gambling Commission has required operators to confirm you are 18 or over before offering free-to-play versions of their games. The demo uses the same rules and maths as the real-money game, so it is a good way to learn how tumbles and multipliers behave. It cannot tell you what will happen in a paid session, because each spin is random. Our demo slots guide and the demo age verification rule explain more.

How do the multipliers work on Starlight Princess 1000?

Multiplier orbs worth 2x to 1000x can land on any spin and multiply the win of the tumble sequence they appear in. In the base game, all orbs visible when the tumbles finish are added together, so a 5x and a 10x make 15x, and that sum is applied to the sequence's total win. If no winning cluster forms, the orbs pay nothing. In free spins the orbs feed a running total that applies to later wins in the round. The slot multipliers page goes further.

Can you buy the bonus on Starlight Princess 1000 in the UK?

No, you cannot buy the bonus on Starlight Princess 1000 at UK-licensed casinos. Versions shown in videos from other countries often include a button to pay a multiple of the stake for direct entry into free spins, but slots supplied to Great Britain do not offer this. In the UK you reach free spins only by landing the scatters during normal play. The game also has no autoplay or turbo here, because those were removed by Gambling Commission rules in October 2021. Read bonus buy in the UK and our slot game design rules page for detail.

How much can I stake on Starlight Princess 1000 in the UK?

The maximum stake on Starlight Princess 1000 at a UK-licensed casino is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 per spin if you are 18 to 24. Those limits apply to every online slot and came in on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025 respectively. A casino may also set its own lower maximum. If your version offers an ante bet, the extra cost is part of the stake and counts toward the limit. The online slot stake limits page sets out the rules in full.

Is Starlight Princess 1000 fair?

Yes, the version at a UK-licensed casino must use a tested random number generator and pay in line with its published rules and RTP. The Gambling Commission requires games to be tested before release and checked afterwards, so every spin is independent and the outcome is fixed before the reels move. Fair does not mean profitable: the 96.50% RTP still builds in a house edge, and most players lose over time. Read are slot machines rigged? for what fairness means in practice.
