The Tanked slot is a high-volatility Nolimit City game in which four tank characters roam a gem-filled grid that can grow to 9 × 9, collecting matching symbols instead of paying on lines. The top published RTP is 96.04%, the max win is 25,000× stake, and the Carnage Spins free spins keep the multiplier and grid size you built in the base game.
No paylines or ways: tanks collect matching gems they can reach, and the grid expands up to 9 × 9.
RTP is 96.04% at the top setting; lower versions exist, so check the help screen.
Max win is 25,000× stake: £50,000 at the £2 limit for 18–24s and £125,000 at £5.
High volatility: most of the value sits in rare, long feature sequences.
Carnage Spins carry over the base-game multiplier and grid size; no bonus buy in the UK.

Tanked slot machine overview
Tanked is a Nolimit City slot built around movement rather than reels. Four characters, each driving a tank, sit on a grid of coloured gems. On every drop they collect matching gems within reach, the gaps refill from above, and the grid grows as explosions knock its walls outwards. The full-size board is 9 × 9.
It belongs to the same family of ‘collector’ games as ELK Studios’ Pirots, where birds gather gems on a grid slot machine layout. Tanked adds Nolimit City’s own toolkit on top: nudging wilds, splitting symbols and bombs, plus a three-tier free spins structure. The cartoon armour theme is aimed at adult players; like every real-money slot, it is for over-18s only.

How a Tanked spin plays out, step by step
The order of events is worth knowing, because it explains why a single paid spin can run for a long time on screen. Everything you see is the playback of an outcome the game server settled when you pressed spin.
Pick a stake. UK casinos cap it at £2 a spin for 18–24s and £5 for players aged 25 and over.
Press spin. The random number generator fixes the full result, including every drop and explosion.
Gems fill the grid and each tank collects the matching gems it can reach, paying their values.
Collected gems vanish and new ones drop in, as with cascading reels, so collecting can continue.
Special symbols and boosters fire when the tanks get stuck, clearing space and sometimes expanding the grid.
When nothing more can be collected, the total is paid and your balance and net position update.
The sequence must take at least 2.5 seconds under UK rules, and there is no button to skip it. Many Tanked spins are short, ending after a single collection; the long chains are the exception.
Tanks, gems and how wins are paid
There are no paylines or ways. Each character is linked to a gem colour, and published descriptions say it collects matching gems within adjacent reach, with each collected gem paying a small fraction of the stake. Wilds can be picked up by any character. That makes Tanked pay like a running tally: lots of small amounts added together, then raised by any multiplier in play.
A worked collection
Take an illustrative case at a 50p stake. One tank collects six gems worth 0.1× stake each (30p), another collects four worth 0.15× (30p), and a 3× multiplier is active. The sequence pays (30p + 30p) × 3 = £1.80. Gem values here are invented for the arithmetic; the real values are in the game’s paytable and change with your stake.
Published descriptions also say each character has a set number of lives, and that tanks colliding can set off ‘booms’ that clear gems and, in the larger case, push the grid out a step. Those rules decide how far a sequence can run, so they are worth reading in the help screen before playing for money.
xNudge, xSplit, xBomb and the tank boosters
Tanked uses three of Nolimit City’s signature symbols. The descriptions below come from published game sheets and are simplified; the in-game rules are the reference.

Multipliers in Tanked add together rather than multiply each other, according to published descriptions. Two separate +2 boosts make a larger multiplier, not a squared one. Check the help screen for the starting value.
Tanked free spins: Carnage Spins and the upgrades
The main Tanked bonus is Carnage Spins, a free spins round triggered by scatter symbols. Its key feature, confirmed in our checked data, is that the multiplier and grid size you have built in the base game carry into the round rather than resetting. A spin that enters the feature with a big grid and a high multiplier is starting from a much stronger position.
Published descriptions name two stronger tiers. Carnage Royale, from a higher scatter count, is described as starting on the full 9 × 9 grid with an added multiplier boost. Mayhem Spins is described as an upgrade reached when all four tanks are destroyed in the same explosion, again with a raised multiplier. Multipliers are said not to reset between these tiers. Scatter counts and spin totals are in the game’s help screen.
This tiered design is a large part of why the game is high volatility. Most bonuses will be standard Carnage Spins, and many will pay less than you might expect; the upgraded tiers are where the extreme results sit. Our pages on progressive multipliers and what triggers a bonus round explain the general mechanics.
Tanked RTP and the cost of play
The best published Tanked RTP is 96.04%, and lower versions exist. The casino decides which tested setting it runs, so the number you get is in the help screen, not on a review site. Our explainer on slot RTP covers why RTP is a long-run figure.

Those averages hide how a high-volatility game feels in practice. With a £50 budget at 50p a spin, it is entirely normal for the money to run out in fewer than 100 spins without a bonus, because a large share of the 96.04% is paid back through rare, big sequences. Our guide on how long money lasts on slots works through examples like this.
Tanked max win at UK stake limits
The Tanked max win is 25,000 times the stake. If a sequence reaches it, the game stops and pays the capped amount. That ceiling is high compared with many mainstream slots, though below some of Nolimit City’s own extreme titles.

The cap is the edge of the maths model, not a target. No hit rate for it is confirmed in our checked data, and it is reached on a vanishingly small share of spins. Our max win caps page explains how caps are applied, and what slot has the biggest max win puts 25,000× in context.
How high volatility shapes a Tanked session
Volatility describes how a slot spreads its return. A high-volatility game like Tanked pays a lot of small amounts and a few very large ones, with long stretches in between. The volatility explainer and the page on standard deviation go into the maths.
Expect many spins that return nothing or a fraction of the stake.
Budgets can fall faster than the RTP table suggests before a feature lands.
A single bonus can account for most of a session’s return, or very little.
Smaller stakes give a budget more spins, but don’t change the odds per spin.
If you prefer steadier play, a lower-volatility game will usually suit better; see high vs low volatility slots for the comparison.
A Tanked demo, where a UK casino offers one, is free demo play after age verification; operators have had to confirm players are 18 or over before any free-to-play game since May 2019. Under the Commission’s play-for-free standard (RTS 6) (opens in a new tab), a demo must reflect the real game, so it is a fair place to learn the tank and booster rules.

On the published figures, Tanked has a larger maximum grid, a higher top RTP and a higher cap than Pirots 2. Collect mechanics look similar, but the pay rules, multipliers and bonuses differ, so they aren’t interchangeable.
Three beliefs come up often. First, that a grid left large after a spin means the next spin is promising: online, each spin starts from its own random result. Second, that the tanks ‘aim’ well or badly depending on recent wins: their moves are part of the fixed outcome. Third, that a dry run makes Carnage Spins due: no slot keeps a debt. Our guide to slot machine myths explains these errors in more depth.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of the Tanked slot?
The top published Tanked RTP is 96.04%, and lower versions exist. Casinos choose which tested setting to run, so check the help screen of the game you open. At 96.04%, 100 spins at £1 cost about £3.96 on average, but because the game is high volatility, a real session can end very differently. A lower setting costs more over time without being unfair. The page on slot RTP variants explains why studios supply several versions.
What is the Tanked max win?
The Tanked max win is 25,000 times the stake. That works out at £25,000 on a £1 spin, £50,000 at the £2 limit for players aged 18–24, and £125,000 at the £5 limit for players aged 25 and over. It is a cap rather than a realistic outcome: the game stops a sequence once the cap is reached, and it happens on a tiny share of spins. Our max win glossary entry explains how caps work across slots.
How do Carnage Spins work in Tanked?
Carnage Spins is the Tanked free spins round, triggered by scatter symbols, and it keeps the win multiplier and grid size you built in the base game instead of resetting them. Published descriptions add two stronger tiers, Carnage Royale and Mayhem Spins, with bigger starting grids or multiplier boosts that don’t reset between tiers. Exact scatter counts and spin totals are in the help screen. Our page on how free spins work on slot machines covers the general pattern.
Does Tanked have paylines?
No. Tanked has no paylines or ways; four tank characters collect matching gems they can reach, and each collected gem pays a small amount that is then raised by any active multiplier. After a collection, gems drop to refill the gaps and the tanks can collect again. The grid can grow in steps up to 9 × 9 as explosions push it outwards. Our grid slot machines page explains how grid-based pay systems differ from reels.
Is Tanked a high volatility slot?
Yes. Tanked is rated high volatility, which means long runs of small or nil returns broken by occasional large sequences, mostly in the bonus tiers. With £40 at 40p a spin, the budget can be gone within 100 spins with no bonus, or a single feature can pay several times the budget. Smaller stakes stretch a budget but don’t change the odds per spin. See what are the most volatile slots for comparable games.
Can I play a Tanked demo in the UK?
Yes, at UK casinos that offer one, but only as free demo play after age verification, a rule in force since May 2019. The demo must reflect the real game’s outcomes, so it is useful for learning how the tanks, boosters and grid expansion work, and for reading the full rules, without staking money. It won’t tell you anything about future real-money spins. The demo slots versus real money slots comparison covers the differences that do exist.
Can I buy Carnage Spins in the UK?
No. Slots supplied to UK-licensed casinos don’t include a bonus buy, so Carnage Spins and the higher tiers can only be reached through ordinary spins. Reviews written for other markets list several paid entry options, but those versions aren’t offered to UK players. UK versions also have no autoplay and take at least 2.5 seconds per spin. The bonus buy in the UK page explains how games are supplied to Great Britain.
Is Tanked like Pirots?
Partly. Both are collector games in which characters gather matching gems on a grid that grows, an idea ELK Studios popularised with Pirots. On published figures, Tanked reaches a 9 × 9 grid against Pirots’ 8 × 8, pays a top RTP of 96.04% against 94%, and caps wins at 25,000× against 10,000×. Tanked also adds Nolimit City’s xNudge, xSplit and xBomb symbols and tank boosters. Our Pirots page explains the original game.
Who makes the Tanked slot?
Tanked is made by Nolimit City, a studio co-founded by Jonas Tegman with its registered office in St Julian’s, Malta, and teams in Sweden, Malta and India. Evolution announced its deal to buy the studio in June 2022. Nolimit City is known for extreme-volatility games and for its ‘x’ mechanics, including xWays, xNudge, xSplit and xBomb, several of which appear in Tanked. Our Nolimit City provider page lists its other slots.
Is Tanked fair?
Yes, in the regulated sense: the version at a UK-licensed casino uses a tested random number generator and pays in line with its stated RTP over the long run. Every result, including how each tank moves and every explosion, is fixed when the spin starts, so there is no skill and no pattern to exploit. Fair still means a house edge, so losses are likely over time. Our explainer on whether slot machines are rigged covers the testing.
